Contemporary and Street Dance Class
Teacher: Jaime Coombes
Miss Jaime Coombes is a professional dancer, choreographer, talent scout and a judge panelist for young people. Jaime was highly encouraged to perform and entertain for a wide variety of audiences by her mother Susan and grandfather bill from a very young age. she had learned through her dance experiences how to express her emotions in a positive way. realising their is such a great need for our young people in todays society to have a positive release, a safe place , a mentor to help understand their emotions and behaviour ,also give them guidance. she set up Fliss Fame Academy where stars are born herself in 2011 and has made outstanding results with young people of all ages, race and gender that have attended her academy to dance from a wide variety of different boroughs. she started to help teach young people how to express their emotions through dance and the arts and made it her aim and goals at the academy to build confidence ,self esteem, improve focus, concentration, find young peoples hidden talents , team work as well as learn to work alone and teach new skills.she concentrates on young peoples mental ,physical ,emotional and spiritual development through the arts.she has attended Kingsway college as a teenager achieving a national diploma in Performing Arts. She has also attended Barbara Speakes stage school giving her many years of professional experience in taking part in all performing arts classes, live shows and talent contests.
Teacher: Corrie King
Corrie David King also known as Corrieography, was born on 1st of February 1993. He is a young up and coming choreographer and dancer. He has had been influenced to dance from the young age of 3 years old, by his own grandmother. His technique training didn’t start into his early teens and before that was self taught. In his self taught years he would go on to be inspired by any factors of art, from paintings to live performances, to books, this in turn created his own unique movement language, that still comes through his dance styles to date. His technique background includes both classical and hiphop. Classical styles include ballet, Tap, Contemporary. Though he has an more experience and lessons in classical, he has had a constant influence of hiphop and Has and continues to earn his respect amongst the hiphop community with his style of fusion. He has been training in popping, locking, house, lyrical, breaking. Furthermore Corrie David King has trained in the art form of traditional African for 2 years under the well known beverly green and her company IRIE! Dance theatre. He is currently studying a BA Dance course at Middlesex university. He works with places such as Hammersmith lyric to bring light to other young talented artists. Corrie has commercially performed for the likes of kid ink, T-pain, Hudson east and more. Corrie has also choreographed for companies like Ilovetour, and UKLC ( UK Language course).
He is currently training and apart of such dance companies: Academy of Definitives, Gambino family, D-15, Cadetsuk (House of bakers).
Corrie is in constant construction of himself believing he can always do better, with that being said he also is a writer, actor, singer, Poet. Using his other talents to feed into his creation with dance is how Corrie works, and currently also working on establishing his own dance company Called D.R.E.A.M (Dance rules everything around me) where he hope to make his dreams and other artist dream come true.
Street dance originally comes from America where young people put together all sorts of dance routines using lots of different styles such as freestyle, contemporary, jazz , hip hop, ballet etc and put on live performances in the streets for all to see.
Our street dance classes run every Tuesday and Wednesday
- Corrie King – Tuesday class from 5pm – 6.00pm for ages 9 – 14 yrs.
- Jaime – Wednesday Street Dance class (private tuition) from 3.50pm – 4.30pm for ages 5 – 8 yrs. With each dance class the young people perform in they have a goal to work towards. This is a live end of term Performance Show for parents/carers, the local public, local newspapers and our young peoples Talent Agency. We spot young people’s talents and help them get signed up to our Entertainment Agency, Ignite Performance Academy for music videos, adverts, films, TV extras, modelling and other live performances in West End shows and lots more.
In the dance class Jaime concentrates on finding young people’s hidden talents and teaching them new skills to perform and choreograph new dance routines with a wide variety of different styles of music, helping them to perform to the best of their abilities. The young people will build up their confidence and self esteem and express themselves emotionally through physical movements.
Each week the young people will be given individual goals to work towards by using different dance routines to all types of music such as R’N’B, Hip Hop, Old School, Garage, Jazz, Soul and Pop music from the early 80’s to our latest releases at the top of the charts today. This class is extremely motivating in helping young people to stay fit and healthy and able to express themselves through music.
